WFF Scholarships

We began to award scholarships to disadvantage girls in Malampa secondary schools in 2019, expanding to include advanced colleges in Port Vila and Luganville, Santo.

Our approach is to invite the Schools to nominate a shortlist of students who they consider meet our scholarship guidelines. In summary, we aim to support students who: are in Year 10 and are in the top quartile in terms of their academic achievements to date, have demonstrated leadership qualities and commitment to both school and community and are at risk of not continuing their education by virtue of poverty or difficult family circumstances.

In collaboration with the schools, our staff convene a qualified selection panel to hold formal interviews with candidates. This give girls the opportunity to talk about themselves, their personal circumstances, and most importantly their aspirations and ambitions.

Following interviews the panel will discuss candidates and agree on their recommendations which is then submitted to the Foundation Board for approval. Once approved, written confirmation is provided to the School, and arrangements made to provide the agreed financial support. We cover all school fees and boarding costs not met by the Vanuatu Government, and subject to a satisfactory annual report, the Foundation will continue that level of support through the scholars remaining years in Secondary School…..and in the hope and expectation that individuals will want to pursue further academic or technical learning, or develop their own employment options, we will continue to support them to follow their ambitions and realise their potential.
